Wale Goodluck, South African mobile-phone Company, MTN Nigeria's manager for regulatory affairs, "we rely on generating plants as our primary source of power." He spoke in a report published by CNNMONEY. “We spend $5.5million (about N660 million) on diesel fuel monthly in Nigeria. The whopping sum is spent on fuelling the company's 6,000 generators at its base stations across Nigeria”.

GOING FORWARD Result-driven investment of ODAs and local resources on basic infrastructure

(Electricity in this case and others) that would allow businesses (SMEs, MMEs & Multi-nationals) to thrive. Government has no moral justification to demand for taxes from businesses considering they (businesses) virtually provide the infrastructure to survive, which also serves the local communities.

Good governance and prudent resources management in order to stimulate, as well as meet tax payers aspirations. Nigeria for 16 years has spent over 13,555,269,000 USD on power alone and but can only boast of 4,000MW of electricity generation as at September 2015.

Focus on old before new instruments – organizing the the basics well (the trinity of personal income tax, consumption tax, corporate tax) and making use of good practices and systems is still the preferred option.
