1. Who to Hire? Start by researching several surveyor websites. They should have some kind of membership association since a strict code of ethics is applied in this field. When you do contact a surveyor ask about their credentials and experience.
2. Don’t Rush Surveys are usually conducted outside and the vessel may require some handling. So if you are in a hurry then perhaps you should wait until you have more time.
3. Be Flexible Surveyor inspections may involve more than one person and may need more than one day to complete.
4. Prepare for the Inspection
Someone who is familiar with the boat or yacht, should be ready with tools available to remove panels if necessary.

Each surveyor has different types of qualifications. They can not inspect every type of boat, yacht, or ship. So…

And don’t be afraid to ask questions if you do not understand, or if something is unclear. There maybe some additional testing that needs to be done before selling the vessel.
