Reason Behind the Conflict

The began with the death of Rwandan president Juvenal Habyarimana, a Hutu, when his plane was shot down above Kigali airport on April 6, 1994

In only 100 days, more than 800,000 Rwandans were killed, most of which belonging to the Tutsi ethnic group.

It is not known whether the Tutsis had anything to do with the death of Habyarimana.
