Suction cups for pore water samples
A wide range of pore water samplers, leachate samplers and vacuum devices is available. For straight results it is decisive to select the suitable material, the correct type of sampler and the proper vacuum method.
• Select the right material for the cup or plate! • Every porpous material acts as physical filter, interferes by adsorption and desorption
with the solvents and has memory effects.

Should I use suction cups or suction plates?
Typical soil water sampling system, including samplers, connecting tubes, sampling bottles and a vacuum unit.
Suction cups for pore water samples
SK20 pore water sampler with removable shaI. For con6nuous and discon6nuous extrac6on. Suitable for determina6on of nitrate and common
organic and inorganic substances.
Pore water sampler SIC20 with removable shaI like the SK20, but with a SiC silicon carbide cup instead of the ceramic cup. SiC is sintered at 2500°C and is chemically much more passive than ceramic or borosilicate. The bubble point is at 90 kPa now!
Suc6on cups for pore water samples
SKPE25 The sampled solu6on is stored inside the shaI and is
collected by applying a pressure to the addi6onal tube.
Instead of a ceramic cup the SPE20 pore water sampler has a porous PEnylon-‐ membrane which is specially suitable for heavy metals and whenever ceramics are inappropriate.
Suction cups for pore water samples
Sampler made of silicon carbide with bubble point 10 kPa. SiC is sintered at 2500°C and is chemically much more passive than ceramic or borosilicate. Patented. Please ask for UMS‘s suitability survey.
Pore water sampler with porous borosilicate glass cup. Borosilicate is
suitable for phosphate and DOC. Available with a diameter of 20 mm
or 25 mm.

KL2: The leachate bucket can be buried in situ to collect leachate - or can be used as a laboratory soil pillar and lysimeter. On the bottom of the stain less steel bucket a 1 bar high fl ow ceramic plate is fi xed. The suction tube has contact only to the “backside“ of the ceramic plate’s rubber backing.
