Student Scholarships for 2014 PI Works! Conference June 19 and 20 at the RiverHouse convention center in Bend, Oregon Deadline to apply: May 15 th Join us at the region’s premier public involvement conference. As a current student in the field, you are invited to apply for a scholarship to defray the costs of the conference. The PI Works! Conference is hosted by the Cascade Chapter of the International Association for Public Participation USA (IAP2 USA). Decisions about public resources and services were never more important than today as communities struggle to maintain and improve quality of life. Public participation professionals play a key role in helping communities decide what to do about vital issues including crumbling infrastructure, water wars, social inequity, health care, impacts of climate change and more. Scholarships offset the cost to attend the conference, and will cover registration, meals and hotel accommodations. Awardees will pay a $50 registration fee and assist with various tasks throughout the conference. When appropriate, scholarship winners may be paired together for room reservations. The conference begins Thursday morning and ends at noon on Friday. Students who do not receive a scholarship may register for $125 and will also be responsible for their accommodations. Here’s how to apply for a scholarship: Please submit a video (3 minutes or less) or written essay (2 pages or less).
