FP7 Project Layers Scaling Up Informal Learning-Current experiences:

- Work in multinational team of researchers

- Leading design and development team

-Responsibilities:- Project management- Designing learning

tools for use in workplace

Page 26: 2015-11-19 Venia Legendi: Vladimir Tomberg

-Requirements design and prioritization, testing paper and software prototypes with stakeholders,

-Test bed in UK General Practices, in collaboration with NHS and Leeds University

- Innovative design-based research: paper-prototyping, usability studies, learner journey maps

-The final goal is supporting informal learning by connecting heterogeneous software pieces using Social Semantic Server

Page 27: 2015-11-19 Venia Legendi: Vladimir Tomberg

FP7 Project Layers Scaling Up Informal Learning- Several tools designed and

developed under my leadership:

- Bits and Pieces ─ A Sensemaking Interface for Doctor’s Revalidation

- Attacher ─ Putting together learning content

- Discussion Tool ─ Connects different tools into unified learning context in a heterogeneous ecosystem

- Timeliner ─ supports collaborative meaning making of tasks, equipment, work relationships, situations and concepts

Design for All-Design for All (Synonyms: Universal Design, Inclusive Design

-The first DfA course in Estonian university

-Lack of awareness-Lack of responsibility-Needs for building community

-Needs for methodology

UD Application-Focus on different interaction abilities

-Existing frameworks for measurement of abilities and assessing products

-Most developed area in UD is architecture

-Web design currently is the most affected by UD principles HCI field

Page 35: 2015-11-19 Venia Legendi: Vladimir Tomberg

Lack of awareness-Running research: Measuring awareness on accessibility standards

- Intermediate results:- 91 full responses from

16 countries- 55% work in software

development companies

- 35% are designers, circa 60% are developers

Page 36: 2015-11-19 Venia Legendi: Vladimir Tomberg

Do you consider yourself aware about accessibility issues on the Web?

Page 37: 2015-11-19 Venia Legendi: Vladimir Tomberg

Awareness about Web SpecificationsI am aware of what is the WCAG specification

I am aware of what is the WAI ARIA specification

Improving AwarenessGAAD 2015-Was for the first time conducted in Estonia as a part of Estonian ICT Week 2016

-Around 75 participants-Starting to build local community

Developing Empathy for Teaching Universal Design-The empathy modeling study was implemented in framework of Design for All course

-The Task: Go from point A to point B by simulating some form of deterioration

Page 43: 2015-11-19 Venia Legendi: Vladimir Tomberg

Developing Empathy for Teaching Universal Design-16 HCI curricula master students;

-8 women and 8 men;-The goals of exercise:

- See the world as others see it;

- Be nonjudgmental;- Understand another's

feelings;- Communicate the

understanding
