What do we need?
• Students now have a smaller attention span: it’s the era of better graphics!
• No time to waste.
• Entertainment + learning.
Getting your students’ attention
• Each teacher has his/her own way of starting a class: with a song, with a prayer, with a game.
• Why not with an online resource?
• Increase your students’ general culture or prepare a little game for them.
Day in the history

Be a weather reporter
• Begin your class asking about the weather.• Open the weather website.• One student will be the weather reporter.• Other students will be callers, asking for the
weather report in their cities.

Train game
• Opening English class has to be an event! Students are supposed to get motivated for learning.
• The simplest things can have a great effect on your kids.
• History, for example, gives them general knowledge. Cross-curricular activities are always enriching.
Take those bits of information and use the grammar or vocabulary behind it: weather, tenses, new words.
Remember, everything must have a purpose: have them make a presentation, sentences or a game!
Shortcuts!

• Our students are digital natives.• They have a real and virtual social life.• We live in a global village.• Technology is changing the education.• We have to teach our students life skills.• We have to adapt to modern times, times can
not adapt to us.
Final Considerations
ReflectThink
Take risks
Don’t be afra
id of technology
The principle goal of education is to create men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done.
