How did you attract/address your audience? The way I attracted my audience with the cover specifically was by using a very large title and interesting photography. Any visible skin on Knight Six, the model on the cover, has been edited to be black and white. His mask and shirt still have some colour on them however. This gives off an interesting looking aesthetic, and will draw people in. Knight on the cover looks very striking with his bold mask against the brighter background. Just below the title is the PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT CONTENT badge. People are generally drawn to this logo. The orange square in the top right corner is a reference to the cover of Madvillainy by Madvillain (MF DOOM and Madlib). The keen eye and fan of indie hip-hop would recognize this small detail. The interview with Knight Six in the double page spread, the interviewer references the first line in the famous Eminem song “Lose Yourself;” “Palms sweaty, knees weak, arms were heavy.” Fans of hip-hop would definitely recognize this reference. The magazine treats the audience as smart enough to understand these kinds of things. The photograph of Knight Six at the top shows him giving the camera the finger. This is to show he doesn’t care much for pictures being taken of him. He’s a rebellious teenager type of guy, like the intended audience. The orange square is present on the double page spread again.
