What is responsibility ?

Comes from the Latin responsus, which means “to respond.” There are actually a few different definitions of the noun.

A duty or obligation to satisfactorily perform or complete a task assigned by someone. ( Business,Dictionary)

Means you do the things you are expected to do and accept the consequences (results) of your actions. (anonymous)

Responsibility means feeling it’s your duty to deal with what comes up, being accountable, and/or being able to act independently and make decisions without authorization. (Source: Elizabeth Wagele)

LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY

• A legal responsibility is what you MUST do.

• legal duties as the laws demand us to do. This is obedience to laws; acting according to the legal management. Eg. To pay tax in time

• Specific duties imposed upon persons to care or provide for others, such as the parents' duty to the child or the guardianship of a ward.

MORAL RESPONSIBILITY

• A moral responsibility is what you SHOULD do• Sometimes we feel responsible for people or things

because we believe it is the right thing to do. We feel that we are morally responsible because to ignore it would be wrong.

MORAL RESPONSIBILITY

• Moral duties are done according to our moral concept of right and wrong. (Eg. To show proper respect to parents, teachers etc. )

• Moral responsiblity is the responsibility that comes with wisdom. Those without wisdom do not have it, and can not understand it.

If you know something about someone close to you, but the knowledge was given to you in utter confidence by someone who's trust was of utmost importance, is it your moral responsibility to divulge that information to that someone close to you, and

1) if you did, that someone close to you would be devastated by the truth

2) If you did, that someone would nevertheless be grateful, but you would lose the trust of the other person who expected you to keep that information confidential

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

• Personal responsibility includes being responsible for your own actions and well-being.

• Personal responsibility means being accountable on what we think and what we do. Dr. Frank Thomas’

• Responsibility is something most people are taught from an early age. As you get older you take what you learn and use it to your advantage to help you sustain a healthy way of living. This includes taking care of yourself from the inside out while managing emotions and other needs

WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP OF FREEDOM AND RESPONSIBILITY?

• When you are free, you have to depend on yourself for everything, so there is responsibility.

• Freedom comes the responsibility, the moral responsibility. Which means that free to act in certain way to the other person but we both are responsible to not to hurt each other’s sentiments or obstruct anyone’s convenience of doing anything. - (NIETZSCHE)
