A new era in engineering educa-on began on June 22, 2005 at the University of Calgary. The Schulich School of Engineering was founded through a $25-‐million dona-on philanthropist Seymour Schulich and a matching contribu-on of $25 million from the Government of Alberta, forever changing the future of engineering in Canada.
“In 2005, we became the first named engineering school in Canada due to our focus on engineering educa-on, research innova-on and ambi-on,” says Chan Wirasinghe, founding dean of the Schulich School of Engineering and professor in the civil engineering department. “It was an opportunity to stand up and raise our flag as one of the top engineering schools in the country."
Over the past 10 years as the Schulich School, we have successfully aPracted the brightest students in Canada, groundbreaking researchers and supported a diverse engineering community.
The Schulich School’s present dean Bill Rosehart envisions an even brighter future built on our founda-on of success. “With a renewed focus on our suppor-ng our students, on fostering diversity and on research that makes a difference we look forward to star-ng our next decade as the excep-onal Schulich School of Engineering.”
Please view the following collec-on of photos as we share some of our highlights of our first 10 as the Schulich School of Engineering.
