Week Beginning Work Completed

Summer HolidaysMonday 9th September We have created our blog pages and then annotated magazine covers, which we wish to base

our work on. We also then analyzed previous years work to look at the pros and cons to give us ideas. We also learnt about the different shot types for possible images we could use for our front cover.

Monday 16th September I finished off creating my questionnaire and my survey on the survey monkey website. Then started the preliminary task for my school magazine. At first it was hard to think of an original name but after some brainstorming I had reached my name and also thought of some stories I could put into the magazine

Monday 23rd September Today I’ve learnt to use Photoshop to a standard, which has allowed me to create my preliminary tasks front cover including key magazine conventions such as a Masthead and Social Networking. I also learnt about the different shot types I can

use on my magazine cover and used the social theories to help identify my magazine readers and how to get across to them correctly.

Monday 30th September This week I started to add the final adjustments t my magazine and mid-week we went to an Academy Class to improve our skills in Photoshop and this helped me work faster and to a higher level. Our trainer was Tony Harmer who has over 30 years experience and so was a great helping in improving my work.

Monday 7th October I have finally now finished my front cover for my preliminary task, I have added great amounts of detail to ensure I have finished my work at a high standard and made it now a finished work except for improvements I will make in the future.

Monday 14th October I started drawing my contents page draft, which I quickly finished and then moved on to creating it in Photoshop, I started inserting key points to my contents page such as the masthead and synergy through social media. This lesson I have now added my editorial and synergy towards my contents page and I also have now included the contents of my magazine as well as my signature to make it look official and prestigious

Monday 21st October I have finally finished my contents page as well as my front cover after making final adjustments to each piece of work they are now at a level I deem satisfactory by having lots of key features such as pictures from my stories and my editorial. It took me some time to finish my contents page as I have some problems in making my signature look pleasant I also struggled with arranging my stories in an order that looked realistic and authentic.

Half Term

Monday 4th November Today we started our main task. We first looked at magazine names and looked at other magazines and how their names have context towards them. From this I then thought of multiple names for my own magazine. I then looked for fonts to use on my magazine and later on started planning my main task front cover

Monday 11th November Today we officially started our front cover for our preliminary task. I worked on my promotion barcode issue and magazine release data and

then introduced social media to then finally add my masthead. Today we continued with our front cover and I added my main story, the main picture and my web address

Monday 18th November Today I added some cover lines on to my front page by using the pen tool so that they don’t cross over my main image to make my front cover look more professional. I also learnt to use the Clone Stamp tool, as there were some poor quality areas on my picture ad so I used this tool to mask and blend it into the picture. I also added a banner photo of people at a rave to make the empty space look more used. Today I finally finished my Front Cover Page. I spent the majority of the lesson making tweaks but after a while I decided to add a second picture to my front cover for the secondary story and in my opinion in just added a pristine effect to my work and completed it in my opinion

Monday 25th November Today we officially started our contents page. We planned our drafts onto paper and from there then started to work on the design in Photoshop I only covered a few basic conventions but I was also given a few possible corrections I could make on my main task front cover and so focused more on those tasks. Today I started by making my banners and started to work on my editorial. I also started trying to focus on the arrangement of the magazine but I am still unsure as to how I should do it and this has slowed my progress greatly.

Monday 2nd December This week I added some of my images; I then progressed into making my monthly review section and adding all the specific stories and changing them around so they fit properly without any issues.

Monday 9th December This week I typed in my editorial section and editied the text again to

make it fill the area and look more professional. I then added my links and my editorial signature and synergy through Twitter, Facebook and Soundcloud.

Monday 16th December Today I made my final adjustments to my contents page I edited the content’s and made it look neat and tidy by adding specific page numbers and I also started on my double page spread questions. I started making my corrections on my contents. I also started working on my interview double page spread and have nearly finished with all 10 questions.

I realized there were a few minor mistakes that could really affect my grade, so I changed this to match the rest of my work and make them suit the conventions of my magazines style. I also learnt how to use the pen tool to a higher standard by practicing through modeling my text around my images to hopefully give me higher marks.
