Twitter mania

Ever since I joined Twitter it’s been like getting back on an old

bike. I found it an incredibly easy and fun way to expand

your network outside your inner circle. I followed 84 users I found

interesting and expanded my followers to 35. I became

curious so I tweeted out and looked beyond my spheres of

influence.

PETER PAPPAS@edteck

I came across Mr. Peter Pappas who from his description seemed like a good resource to follow. Mr. Pappas is a veteran teacher and technology

consultant who primarily works towards introducing iBooks into

mainstream learning. His focus is also in working with iPads, primarily in leading education organizations to

improve their quality of teaching.

I came across a tweet that had an article on a new Texas elementary that introduced the idea of flipped classroom. The article was a great

read so I retweeted (RT) to showcase it to the rest of my network.

CAROLYN DURLEY

@okmbioCarolyn Durley is a Biology teacher

residing in Kelowna B.C and I became fascinated with her passion

of introducing online network quizzes to her classroom. I felt she needed the support and I was right.

Who knows maybe my tweet instilled a little needed confidence.

I felt Carolyn would be a great addition to my PLN as I feel she is a

well established instructor and is well aware of the challenges of introducing technology in the

classroom. She is also an advocator for the flipped classroom which I

find especially beneficiary.

Vicki davis@coolcatteacher

One of my best findings is Vicki Davis, a world renown advocate for

technology based education best known for her award winning blog “Cool Cat Teacher”. Ms. Davis is co

founder of the flat classroom project, which focuses on a collaborative effort

to join middle and high schools together on a global front. Ms. Vicki

Davis will prove to be a very valuable resource, her wave of tweets and

personal blog have proved to be very informative. I retweeted a great

resource Vicki was able to share on successful resume building, which will

help me in my professional career. Her blog is a pool of valuable advice and personal experience that I find

very helpful in pursuing a career as a technology driven educator.

CYBERBULLYING

After the previous lecture on cyberbullying, I was still not

convinced on the seriousness of cyber bullying.

But I took to the net and read the recent devastating news of the B.C

born teen suicide victim, who suffered torment and depression on

the internet before she took her own life.

@SurajChavda91 was the first to open a conversation on the matter. We briefly discussed how it affected each of us on a personal level, but I

wanted more opinions.

cyberbullying

So I tweeted and asked the opinion of my network, soon I

was approached by @AnnalieseS14 and

@jmorette77 who had much to say on the matter.

My interactions on twitter have really helped me not only

broaden my perspective, but also expand my boundaries as a student. The global connection

is surreal especially when issues that need discussing can easily

be brought forth with others that have the same interests.
