A VISIT TO ROCKETSHIP MOSAIC IN CALIFORNIA
Take away #1: Students charted individualized goals, assignments.
Take away #2: Necessity for planning time built into the week. No school every Fridays so that teachers could collaborate, plan, and effectively dissect data to create individualized paths.
Drawback: Huge multi-purpose room, 4-day student week

DRAWBACK #1: NEW DIGITAL CONTENT WAS OVERWHELMING/TIME CONSUMING…AFTER MANY HOURS OF PD, WE ARE CURRENTLY USING NONE OF THESE.
DRAWBACK #2: YOU NEED TO ALWAYS HAVE A BACK-UP PLAN WHEN THE INTERNET/ SPECIFIC SITES ARE DOWN.
DRAWBACK #3: IT SEEMED LIKE FEATURES ARE CREATED BY NON-TEACHERS. SUGGESTIONS ARE FORWARDED TO THE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TEAM FOR ENHANCEMENT CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR. I HAVE YET TO SEE ONE OF MY SUGGESTIONS IMPLEMENTED.
ITS LEARNING
Take away #1: Ability to flip the classroom by videoing lessons and posting them. My students responded well to watching videos and seeing their accomplishments recognized.
Take away #2: Connecting students (who wouldn’t normal connect) through autobiographical poetry discussion boards and response journals.
Drawback: No training received. I had to teach myself how to use this. This took alot of time to create and troubleshoot.
