As you can see rom the gender results from my survey, the responses asked was distributed between male and female. This gives me a good indication of what both genders like in a thriller therefore meaning I can meet before criteria's. By asking both genders means that I have different opinions as they may have different views and opinions. By having three females this means that the survey may go onside more but if they are all interested in the same film genre that it will work out evenly.

Question 1

Question 2

For my second question I wanted to know how old the audience answering my survey was, as you can see from the results, 100% of the audience were 15-17. This shows that the opinions should be fairly similar and they are all into the same things. By having the audience in the same age range it makes it easier for me to make a trailer suitable for everybody age range and standards.

Question 3 By asking my audience what

types of colours they associate to a thriller makes it easier for me to make it as conventional as I can to a real thriller trailer. It also made it easier knowing that the majority of the audience had the same opinions and believed that reds, blacks and whites were the typical colours to use. This means that I can make sure the Mise-en-scene in my trailer is suitable to my genre. The main colour mentioned was red. This is typical because it shows, blood, anger and love all things which are represented in thrillers.

Question 4 With question four I wanted to

know if the audience would want to see lots of action shots where there was many different scenes all together. All of the responses answered yes. This is good because, it shows that my trailer would be more conventional to the genre I am basing it on. Some response gave me detailed feedback such as, ‘Guns being shot and violence’ and ‘Yes as it creates a higher sense of tension’. This was useful as I can add these scenes and ideas into my trailer to make it more realistic and eye catching to the audience.

Question 5

I had many mixed responses for this question aske din my survey. By people saying no it has made me want to work hard on my trailer for people to change their minds and to want to be able to pick a thriller. It may not be to some peoples likings and that is fine but I aim to appeal to a broad audience therefore I shall include the feedback I got to make it stand out and meet peoples expectations.

Question 6 By asking the broad question of

what other genres do they like to watch gives me an insight of what sort of elements to include into my trailer. By the results it shows that horror and comedy was the most common ones they preferred to watch. Horrors and thrillers are mainly linked together therefore this is a good aspect to put together for my trailer. The other common genre was comedy, although I may not be able to include this in my thriller, I may be able to add a scene where the main protagonist is quite clumsy at times.

Question 7 Question 7 was to get to know the audience a little more. This is a good part because, it shows me what sort of interests they have to whether or not they watch many films or trailers in their spare time. A lot of the audience spend a lot of time watching either Netflix or on some sort of computer device therefore they would be able to have access to trailers and films. It also shows that they can access social media and go online therefore this helps with the process of online marketing to publicise my product.

Question 8 This what a useful and necessary question to ask in my survey because, it shows me where my target audience would want to see my trailer being shot. The most common one said was, the woods. This is typical because, a lot of thrillers happen in woods as they are mysterious and suspicious because of how dark and abandoned they are. The most common ones after that was, Big busy city, abandoned island and a castle, this gives me a good range of places to consider for my trailer. The woods and a big busy city would be a good link to use in my trailer I feel, as I could show life as it was good before and then in the woods when things started to take a turn for the worst.

Question 9 The reason I asked this question

was because, it shows me what people would expect to see in a typical trailer. The responses gave me good feedback as to what to use in it. They want music that would make them feel suspense and on edge. They would want a dramatic build and this is typical because in a thriller trailer, they would have a part of the film where everything is perfect then suddenly a drop and change in scenery where the music would suddenly go from good to bad. The survey also shows that people want fast paced music therefore I would use this when the action shots are happening to show how tense the scene is.

Question 10 The last question I asked was

about lighting, I felt as if this was necessary because, I wanted to know how the audience wanted the trailer to appear. 80% of the results showed that, they wanted to see both light and dark lighting. This is conventional because, at the start of the trailer the scene usually tends to be quite light and everyone is always so happy, then as the trailer progresses the lighting begins to dim and become dark as the trailer has become more intense and suspense. The other 20% of the survey wanted just dark lighting. Although I would go with the majority vote, I would also consider the fact that a lot of my trailer should be in dark lighting as it creates a better effect on the audience.
