What are Angels created from?

Angels are created from Light Jinns are created from smokeless fire Humans are created from clay The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The angels

were created from light, the jinn were created from smokeless fire, and Adam was created from (clay) that which has been described to you.” (narrated by Muslim, 2996)

Who are Jinns?

Jinns are a creation of Allah They are created from smokeless fire Jinns are not angels. Jinns have the ability to differentiate between right and wrong Some jinns are believers (Muslims), some are unbelievers Jinns are normally not visible to humans Jinns eat, drink and procreate. Satan was a jinn (not a fallen angel)

Angels are always obedient to Allah

Angels dutifully carry on all the commands of Allah. Angels do not rebel against Allah’s commandments “…[they, i.e., angels] disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they

receive from Allah, but do that which they are commanded” (Quran 66:6)

Angels bowed down to Adam

Allah created Adam and honored Adam by having angels prostrate to him. “And (remember) when We (Allah) said to the angels: ‘Prostrate yourselves

before Adam.’ And they prostrated except Iblees (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah)’” (Quran2:34 )

Was Satan a (fallen) angel? Why would Allah make angels worship Adam?

Page 7: Angels

Was satan a fallen angel?

Angels don’t disobey Allah. Satan disobeyed Allah. Thus he was not an angel. Satan (Iblees) was in the company of angels when Allah commanded them all

to prostrate to Adam. Quran mentions that Satan (Iblees) was a jinn. Behold! We (Allah) said to the angels, "Bow down to Adam": They bowed down

except (Satan)Iblees. He was one of the Jinns, and he broke the Command of his Lord. (Quran 18:50)

Why did Allah make angels to worship Adam?

Allah commanded angels (and satan) to prostrate to Adam. Allah wanted to honor Adam (humans) as the best of HIS creation. The arabic word used is ‘Sujood’ = Prostrate Allah did not used the word ‘Abudoo’ = worship In many cultures, people bow down to each other for respect. Are they

worshipping each other?
