Maiden name was Anne Marbury.
She married in 1612 to a trader, William
Hutchinson, and soon migrated to
Massachusses in 1634.
She was baptized June 20, 1591.
•Brought to CIVIL trial, and religious court on the account of bad mouthing the ministers.
•Having men and women in her house during her Sunday meetings.
•She was accused of violating the 5th
commandment; “ Honor the father and mother”.
•Women that attended her meetings were being tempted to ignore and not take care of there families.
When banished from her colony, Anne Hutchinson, some followers, and family moved to Pelham Bay. ( Which today is the Bronx of New York.)
William Hutchinson died
Indians and the Dutch were at war.
Indians came to Anne, here followers, and her family as if they were friend, and killed them.
Hutchinson daughter was captured and lived with the Indians.
Hutchinson symbolizes religious freedom, liberal
thinking and Christian feminism
The state of
Massachusetts honors
Hutchinson with a
State House
monument calling her
a "courageous
exponent of civil
liberty and religious
toleration."
