Who is A+ NYC A+ NYC brings New Yorkers together to envision an excellent and equitable public school system under the citys next administration We do this in two ways: A+ NYC Policy Hub PS 2013 3. Goal- PS 2013 Have multiple stakeholders engage in a community visioning process where they create an education agenda for the next mayor Policy- from the ground up Create a collective vision Use charrette process as an engagement tool for organizing 4. Workshops 75 workshops Over 1000 participants All 5 boroughs Diverse ethnicities/race/socioeconomic status Students, parents, teachers, principals, elected officials, community members 6. 4 Questions What is your vision for an ideal education? What does a student need to know, learn and do before they graduate from high school? What needs to happen in the classroom to achieve that vision? What needs to happen in the school to achieve that vision? What does the next mayor need to know about your communitys priority issue? 7. From workshops to bus tour Looked through all the data to find similarities and main ideas How often was it mentioned in all?
