ANZAC DAY BY F I N N
ANZAC OBELISK
In 1916 the children of our school built a monument
to respect the soilders that died in the war and went
to this school. The government decided that your
not allowed to build a monument because it
reminded the people the horrors of war.
BATTLE OF GALLIPOLI
When Turkey entered the war on Germany side the
Anzacs thought to take the Turkish by surprise and
take the capital of Istanbul to keep supply routes
through the black sea to Russia but the Turkish took
the Anzacs by surprise and it was a horrible battle.
ANZACS
The Anzac word stands for Australian and New Zealand
Army Corps. The Anzacs fought in two very horrible
battles. The battle of lone pine and Gallipoli.
LONE PINE
The battle of lone pine was originally intended as a diversion
from attempts by New Zealand and Australian units to force a
breakout from the ANZAC perimeter on the heights of Cunuk
Bair and Hill 971. There was over 2,000 Australian Casualties.
RESPECT SOILDERS
Remember to respect the Anzacs that died for our
School and Australia. Never disrespect the
Monument in our School because of the soilders
that died in the war.
