Regions - Regions are the basic unit of study in geography 5. Relative location = not specific (general) 6. -Absolute location = specific 7. - Georgia has five geographical/physiographical regions. 8. Appalachian Plateau - The smallest region containing limestone, caves and canyons. 9. Appalachian Plateau - The corner where Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia meet is called the TAG corner. 10. Appalachian Plateau - Lookout Mountain is on the Appalachian Plateau 11. Appalachian Plateau - Contains two important Civil War battles; Chickamauga and Chattanooga. 12. Appalachian Plateau - Cloudland Canyon has 2 beautiful waterfalls 13. Appalachian Plateau - Georgias only significant coal deposits are found in this region 14. Ridge and Valley Region - Flat (valley) with narrow ridges capped with limestone. 15. Ridge and Valley Region - Has fertile soil used for farmland and pastures for cattle. 16. Ridge and Valley Region - The city of Ellijay is known for their apples apple capital of Georgia. 17. Ridge and Valley Region - The city of Dalton is known as the carpet capital of the world. 18.
