You have options to view the summary, email the record or find similar records. Clicking on the title sends you to the full record.

Instructions: Enter refugees in the search box.

View the full record for The Balkan Odyssey Digital Archive. The information at the top of the description includes the name of the repository that holds the archive.

Question: How do you find the contact details for the repository?

3. Advanced Search

Instructions: Select Advanced Search from the left-hand navigation.

Enter industry as a subject search Enter coal as a subject search

View the full record of the Somerset Miners’ Association Archive

Scroll down to the bottom of the record and look at the index terms or access points.Click on the Index term Miners’ Federation of Great Britain.

Question: How many repositories have archives in them that have used this index term? How many records/archives are there?

4. Searching a single repository

Instructions: Select Advanced Search from the navigation in the footer.

Enter medicine as a full description searchSelect Wellcome Library from the drop down menu Choose a repository.

Question: What are the Access conditions for these archives?

5. Browse indexes

Instructions: Select Browse indexes from the navigation in the footer.

The Search in: box asks you to specify the area of index terms you wish to search. Choose personal epithet from the drop down menu.

(Epithet: a term used to characterize a person or thing; a term used as a descriptive substitute for the name or title of a person: from Wiktionary: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/epithet. Accessed 02/11/09)

Enter musician in the search box and click on Browse. This will search for any personal name entries that include the epithet of musician.

Your results are displayed on the left hand side of the page. It shows how many repositories hold records matching your search term. You will also see related terms.

Select the full record for the Mendelssohn Papers.
