Maria Elaine F. Ramos 3SED-SC “Are you in favor in K-12 Curriculum? Why?” Yes I am in favor as far as education is concern. And I have three reasons why I am a “YES”. Just lately I have a short chat with my cousin who is in grade 8, her name is Vann. She is studying at San Josef High School. She said they have a subject called Mandarin, it is a language spoken in China. And I have a friend studying at Science High School, her name is Jelay and they are studying Spanish language. So it means, if they want to go to China or Spain they can easily communicate with others. On the other hand, every grading period in their science subject, it changes the specialization like for example, 1 st grading period “Environmental Science”, 2 nd grading “Biology”, 3 rd grading “Chemistry” and 4 th grading “Physics”. And as their level become higher the concept of that subject becomes more complex also, it is called as Spiral Curriculum. It gives them a better and wider knowledge in the field of Science. These are under my first reason. Second, after they have successfully completed this whole course they will get a National Certificate that permits them and gives them an opportunity to get a job here and in international at the age of about 18. They are expected to become a more independent person and a more competent one. So that means it prepares them to be competitive not only here in the Philippines but also internationally or let’s just say globally competitive. And if they want to get a higher degree and masteral they can still continue to college, and in that they can be the best person they can. Lastly, almost all countries around the world follow this kind of system in education. And I think it is also the time for us to adapt this kind of system in our country. Because if not, when?

“Are you in favor in K-12 Curriculum? Why?”

Yes I am in favor as far as education is concern.

On the other hand, every grading period in their science subject, it changes the specialization like for example, 1st grading period “Environmental Science”, 2nd

grading “Biology”, 3rd grading “Chemistry” and 4th grading “Physics”.

That is why other foreign countries are underestimating Philippines because of a poor system of education. We have a lot of excellent students that can and could have been more excellent with the help of K-12 curriculum.

Yes it would take a lot of adjustments in our country at first. It is indeed a big challenge to all of us most specially to all our teachers because it needs well-trained and well educated mentors in the implementation of this curriculum. But I believe we are all capable and we can do all this by supporting and helping one another.

If it’s in the best intention of the government to help each Filipino youth to make a living beyond better, who else would say no? These are my reasons why I said YES.
