  The capital and largest city is Phoenix. The second largest city is Tucson, followed in size by eight Phoenix metropolitan area cities:  Mesa, Glendale,  Chandler, Scottsdale,  Gilbert, Tempe, Peoria, Surprise and then by Yuma in Yuma County.
