audience who are the biggest players of video games.

• They will be of teenage age as this is a key time in their lives in terms of education which could be affected by the use of video games and this could be highlighted in our extract.

• We will also be aiming at parents of addicts as according to the British Board of Film Classification, 8.75% of children under the age of 18 are addicted to video games.

Finding out about . . .Finding out about . . .

• By carrying out several pieces of audience research we intend to find out several things about our audience.

• One of the things is why people play video games – what attracts them and makes them so popular?

• Another point is discovering facts and figures about the audience e.g. What is the age which most plays video games and how many hours they play for etc.

• Another point is the range of consoles people own – do they stick to playing just on console or do they vary between many?

• Utopian SolutionsWe shall be offering clarity to the inadequacy of confusion.

This will be aimed at parents who may have questions about their child being addicted to video games and are wondering why they are.

It will also offer the isolation to community solution to the gamers themselves. If they watch the documentary, they will feel part of a group who are addicted to the gaming and feel that they are not alone in their addiction.

It will also offer the boredom to excitement as the audience may find a slightly more comedic documentary more exciting to watch.

• Maslow’s Hierarchy of NeedsMaslow created a pyramid of needs which are split into

sections depending on how much the user needs them in their lives.

It starts with the basic needs of life e.g. food and water and goes right up to things which people want e.g. self esteem and lack of prejudice.

In terms of our documentary it would fit into the love and belonging section with ‘friendship’ as people may play the games to fit in with their social groups.
