Polish climate
General Facts
Poland has a moderate climate with both maritime and continental elements.
The weather tends to be capricious and the seasons may look quite different in consecutive years.
Poland's climate is strongly influenced by the lowland topography
Seasons
We have got 4 typical European seasons – spring, summer, autumn and winter.
We also have early spring and early winter.
Winds
The winds in Poland are typically weak to moderate, their speed ranging from 2 to 10 m/s.
We also have got local winds - sea breeze and halny
Halny – a strong wind which blows in the moutains Sea breeze – an invigorating wind which occurs during the day
and is felt about 10km inland.

Cloudiness
The number of cloudy days is between 60% and 70%
The most cloudy regions are the lake discrits in the north and the Sudets
The least cloudy regions are Wielkopolska and the Silesian Lowland
The average number of cloudy days a year, with the sky more than 80% overcast, is 120-160
The average number of sunny days a year, with the cloudiness below 20%, is 30-50

The average annually rainfall is estimated at 700mm

Temperature
The average annually temperature is about 6-8 degrees Celsius
Hot days, when the temperature exceeds 25 degrees Celsius, occur from May to September.
Cold days, when the temperature is below zero, occur from November to March.
