Blue card system for behaviour outside the classroom

In class behaviour problems are to be resolved by the class teacher. The senior member of the team, DP/P are all available to support if/when needed.

There is a yellow card system which the DP will instigate in certain circumstances after consultation with the student, teacher and parents.

Blue Card Detention

Uniform Offence- any variation from the written uniform policy statement

Out of Bounds- a school map shows out of bounds areas including;

Out of Bounds

roadside of admin block, car parks, driveway, bike rack

immediately around staffroom areas

in classrooms before 8.15am

in class at interval (except ‘Trusted Class’)

far bank near PMPS

in any resource area or hall

on any roof

Blue Card Detention

Safety Offences- running round buildings, incorrect use of road crossing, dangerous play, riding on footpath

Offensive Behaviour- fighting, spitting, swearing, bullying, discourtesy, insolence, vulgarity, littering, vandalism

Blue Card DetentionIf a student is seen committing any of the offences, a card will be given signed by the teacher issuing and indicating the offence

The student must report to the detention room when indicated

The principal will become involved for regular offenders and for any offence of a particularly serious nature

5.13 Behaviour Management

Staff must abide by guidelines in the Administration Handbook

Students must exercise self-discipline and take responsibility for their own actions

An in school suspension will occur for students who have been involved in repeated offensive behaviour or offences where DP or P have been involved. Parents will be notified by DP or P.

Assertive Discipline Plan

For all class settings

Goal; To have a fair and consistent way to establish a safe, orderly, positive classroom environment in which teachers teach and students learn

Example- Consequences

In one day or break: Warning

Second time: Time out- 30 mins working on own

Third time: Class change- Student sent to Team Leader- Observation book

Fourth time: DP/ Principal- Record on KAMAR

Teachers and students should;

Be clear with information

Be good listeners

Be consistent

Be prepared to take time out

Be positive

Be assertive
