Learning Outcome : At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. State Bernoulli’s principle

2. Explain the application of Bernoulli’s principle in air flight.

Pre-requisite Knowledge: Student should be already able to:

1. Define pressure

2. Explain the relationship between pressure, force and surface area

3. Explain with examples the application of pressure in everyday life,

Teaching and Learning Approach : Cooperative Learning Approach

LESSON BEGINNING (SET INDUCTION)

Time Allocation

Students’ Task/ Activities Classroom DiscourseRole of Teaching Aids / Technologies

5 minutes Motivating Sets

Students will be telling about the history of Bernoulli’s principle

Tells the students about the history of Bernoulli’s principle to catch students attention.

Explain to students how Daniel Bernoulli found the concept of Bernoulli’s principle.

Power point presentation.

DEVELOPMENT PHASE

Time Allocation

Students’ Task/ Activities Classroom DiscourseRole of Teaching Aids / Technologies

15 minutes Deductive Approach

Students will be telling about Bernoulli’s principle.

Tells the students what Daniel Bernoulli state about Bernoulli’s principle.

Power point presentation

Cooperative Learning Approach

Students will be doing a sort of hand on activity and discuss the problem together.

Get the class to generate ideas as to how understand how Bernoulli’s principle is related with real life.

Ask students to blow hard between two pieces of paper and enhance them to generate ideas about what happen behind this activity.

Question 1: What happen to the paper when you blowing hard between these two papers?

Question 2: How do you relate this activity to the Bernoulli’s principle? When you blowing the paper, the air motion will become faster or slower?

Question 3: Due to the Bernoulli’s principle, what happen to the rate of pressure when the speed of the air is high?

Question 4: Then, what the factors that made the paper move

towards each other?

Explain to them clearly how the paper can move towards each other. Made correction if their assumptions are wrong

Generate idea and increase curiosity of students about how aeroplane fly based on the concept of Bernoulli.

Question 1: Have you ever wondered why the aeroplane can fly.

Question 2: What does the aeroplane have to make the aeroplane is able to fly. What is the shape of the wing?

Question 3: How does the aerofoil shape help the aeroplane to fly?

Question 4: What happen when the aeroplane moves forward?

Question 5: What happen to the pressure on the top and below of the aerofoil?

Question 6: What happen to aeroplane when there is a difference in pressure at the aerofoil?

Explain to them clearly.

5 minutes Summarize

Students will be given some sort of question.

Bring the class together to ask some snappy questions about what they have learned.

Question 1: What does Daniel Bernoulli state about Bernoulli’s principle?

Question 2: What are the two main factors in the Bernoulli’s principle?

Question 3: What happen to the speed of air when we blowing hard to something?

Question 4: What happen to the pressure when the speed of air is high?

Question 5: Does the higher pressure push lower pressure or lower pressure push higher pressure?

Question 6: What is the name of the force that helps the aeroplane to fly?

Distribute worksheets as an extra exercise to be done before finish the class.
