2. Observations about our relationship with all the animals around us, living in our houses, our cities, our planet Do not loveme.Do not hate me.Just have respect for me. 3. consider that animal as part of their family, and build with him/her a community based on respect and loyalty. Those that attach great value to the affection and company provided by an animal, like a dog, a cat 4. It is not the feelings a person may be projecting over the animal, just like could occur over a nice object, an animal gives and takes provides company, affection, and asks in return for care, attention, respect, and always be treated in a fair and honest manner. 5. The animals we adopt live with us for all their lifetime, we take care of them and use our resources to grant them a worthy and happy life, until the longevity inherent to their species, make them deteriorate, and depart, leaving so much grief and emptiness behind them. 6. Like with our children, none of us would allow his dependent dogs or cats to be injured, or be used to benefit others, without taking their interests into account. 7. because we love and respect the animals we adopt and live with us, as part of our families. But 8. Why only them? 9. What is the difference between the animals we adopt and the rest of them? Is it that we only respect the human beings we love and belong to our family? Why do we only respect the rights and necessities of the animals we love? Are these animals the only ones that are able to feel, feel pain or joy, eager to live and develop their own and unique personality? 10. We assign animals a place and a purpose in the world, based on how they can be useful for us, without thinking about the injustice of this classification. We are not aware of it, but we are discriminating animals according to arbitrary reasons, reasons based on our interests, not theirs. 11. Arbitrary Classification We benefit some species, we curse others, for reasons always based on our interests, not theirs. 12. Companion Species Species classified as companion, like cats or dogs, obtain greater consideraion than others, and for many, these individuals are part of their personal community. We acknowledge these individuals certain qualities of our own (but not exclusively ours): they can feel, they can feel pain, enjoy, fear, each individual is unique, with unique personality 13. Other species, like dolphins, elephants, seals, tigers, are considered interesting, pretty, superb, inteligent, praiseworthy, thus we prefer to preserve them. Lucky species 14. Species, like snakes, rats, toads, vampires, etc., are considered dangerous, disgusting or annoying, so we just kill them based on our fear or ignorance, with no trace of remorse. Cursed species 15. More and more wild species become endangered every day. We wish to save them from extintion, but not in the interest of each individual, but only for the value we call natural heritage, the entity including the whole biodiversity in this planet. Endangered species 16. But there is another face of our arbitrary animal classification of dreadful effects for other species individuals 17.

  • Species to produce food.
  • Spccies to produce clothing.
  • Species to produce amusement.
  • Species as experimentation objects.

Producing Species 18. Species likeBox taurus(bull),Ovis aries(sheep),Sus scrofa(pig), oGallus gallus(chicken), among others, were classified as food producers for humans. Food Species 19. We arbitrarily deprive them of their individuality, forgetting their capacity to feel pain or joy, while on the other hand we acknowledge that this qualities are part, for example, of every companion animal. Food Species 20. Almost totally unaware of it, mainly because we were brought up to accept it like that, we are turning sentient, sensitive helpless beings into just raw material, into producers and at the same time products in a quiet, large-scale industrial murdering system. The animal holocaust 21. Thousands of animals die every moment in an horrifing endless assembly and disassembly line, just to satisfy our eating habits, in slavery, hardship and extermination resembling those that took place during World War II genocide... The animal holocaust 22. We may feel horrified wathing dogs or cats served as food in Chinas restaurants, dogs or cats that are killed a moment before they are served, but we actually do the same with other animals In Asia it is usual to have a pig as companion animal. why should not asian people consider us cruel or insensitive for eating pigs? A question of habits 23. A question of habits Why is it better to eat pigs or cows, instead of dogs or cats? Are not all of them equally able to feel pain or joy? Isnt it just a cultural matter, a habit accepted without questioning whether it is morally acceptable or not, without prior ethical analysis? 24. and prevent millions of animals from being enslaved and murdered in our name, in the name of our current eating habits. A question of habits We can eat in a tasty and healthy way with a great variety of plant products: cereals, pastas, legumes, vegetables, fresh fruits, nuts, spices, processed meals, etc 25. We kill millions of cows,, minks, ermines, foxes, etc., to steal their skin and manufacture clothes, bags, wallets, instead of using synthetic of plant basedtextiles. Species for clothing 26. We me consider againunacceptable that thousands of cats and dogs are skinned and killed in Asia. Is it so different from what we do with cows, rabbits, minks?Species for clothing 27. Certain species, like lions, tigers, monkeys, are considered curious, exciting, and in return we create circus to cage them for the rest of their lives, breaking their will with all the required violence so they do thrilling or ridiculous performances that entertain us. Species for amusement 28. In Spain and other countries, pacific bulls are grown up and selected for their bravery to participate in bull fights: to be brutally stabbed with harpoons, swords, until they finally bleed to death or burst inside, all this for the joy of people that consider it a noble tradition, art. Species for amusement 29. We confine many animals in zoos, aquariums, whether they are endangered or not, so we can enjoy visiting them and showing our children how is the life of a freedom-less bored and miserable animal. Many, too many people enjoy hunting or fishing as a sort of sport, killing other animals just for fun of with poor excuses as population control, causing such pain and agony. 30. Species like mice,, hamsters, or some primates, among others, seem to were born to join all kind of experiments, in the name of human progress. Species for experimentation 31. These animals are lifetime caged, dissected alive without anesthesia, flooded with chemical products, cosmetics, cleaning products, just to measure the dose that causes their death, causing suffering that is hard to imagin by any human being. Species for experimentation 32. The outcome of these experimients is low, since the physiological differenfes among species distort the results. There are alternatives for animal experimentation, like cell cultures, computing models, that are showing more accurate results. Species for experimentation 33. Is our current attitude toward animals fair? Is it fair to separate those being equal in their basic ability to feel by the criteria of the profit we will obtain by exploiting them? We must meditate 34. It seems to be an unfair situation, but it has been like this ever since humankind exists. Everybody accepts it as something normal. It is part of our culture and I cant imagine a different way of living. Then, theres no alternative? 35. and it is basically a change in our daily habits, a turn in our choices for food, clothes, etc., taking into account that the rest of animalsare not things Yes, there is 36. Because we can live happy and healthy without eating other animals bodies, because we can dress without killing them and stealing their skin, because we do not need to have fun at their expense. Fresh habits 37. This respectul attitude, without discrimination for any human and non-human animal, is the basis ofveganism,an attitude that systematically searchs for choices in our living not coming from the exploiting and killing of our animal relatives. Veganism 38. What will change if just one person modifies habits, against the general attitude to animals in the rest of the world? But 39. For how many centuries was it accepted to enslave our human relatives of different races, cultures, depriving them of their most basic rights? 40. How long was it required for us to start questioning sexist traditions like arranged marriages, women considered just a property of their husbands 41. Accepted traditions like those became morally unacceptable, thanks to persons that, one by one, built up a majority that decided those traditions were unfair, that stop supporting them, and pleaded for their abolition. The influence of one 42. Our free will make us responsible for our choices and their consequences. We must no hurt others interests just for convenience or tradition. Our freedom is not endless, it finishes just where others basic rights starts. 43. It doesnt really look fair, nor healthy for our conscience, that our welfare and personal growth is conditioned by the requirement of exploiting, ensalving or killing any other sentient being. 44. How long will we keep on supporting the holocaust of other sentient animals? Isnt it true that we all animals share a common origin? Dont we share some basic capabilities, and the differences that are supposed to separate us are just a question of grade, not class, and irrelevant regarding moral consideration? 45. A logic step forwad Including veganism in our way of life promotes respect for the rest of animals, allows to keep a solid and coherent moral, and a more fair and honest relationship with them. It contributes to eradicate the abusive speciest discrimination that is justifing animal oppression. 46. Within a society now days that has reached such an advanced civilization, how many of us would be able to kill and skin with our own hands a pig, a dog, a cow, and devour him afterwards? Is there any specific requirement or obligation to do something like that to any animal? 47. If you would never eat your dog or cat, if you would never steal his skin to make yourself a dress, if you would not allow your cat or dog to be caged the rest of his life, or used for terrible experimentsthen think about the reasons about it, and you will probably find out, being honest, that those reasons also apply for the rest of animals that inhabit this planet with us. 48. Get more information contacting any of the organizations that support veganism, they will guide you to make it real, to make a change towards respectul habits and fair relationship with the rest of animals we share this planet with.
