Wi-Fi in our community provides a relaxed environment that enables digital engagement for those at risk of digital exclusion Why are we doing this? We wish to create pro-longed digital engagement within the community. Enabling communities most at risk of digital exclusion to take advantage of the benefits of digital technology. By providing supported learning and creating peer to peer support networks we aim to reduce technological and other barriers to digital adoption and continued participation with sections of the community who traditionally the hardest to reach. Elderly With increasing pressure to use the internet to access essential services moving online and the ability to only utilise deals online some can feel very fearful and excluded. The Digital Inclusion sessions offered at Libraries and Community centres with Wi-Fi in our Community give a chance to join likeminded individuals with similar fears and conquer them together. 14.9 million over 60’s in the UK Disabled and Carers Covering care hoes supporting those with disabilities and with content around accessibility we aim to support those with both physical and metal impairments. The libraries and community centres will also be offering carers events aimed at helping both paid and unpaid carers reach out for the support they need. 16% of working age adults are disabled. The UK has over 7 million carers. Low income families The services in public libraries and community centres will enable a supported environment to assist with universal credit applications. Also offering a workshop aimed at single parents to enable them to learn digital skills that support their child’s education leading to better educational outcomes for the children and increasing digital confidence and employability for parents. 1.8 million single parent families in the UK Homeless. Supporting a dedicated homeless shelter as well as Public Libraries and Community Centres, Wi-Fi in our community offers a service that’s free and without restrictions enabling those experiencing short and long term homelessness to have an inclusive space they can use to access online services . 1 in 10 will experience homelessnes s in their lifetime in the UK Rural workers Wi-Fi in our community is supporting several Agricultural Auctioneers sites which form a focal meeting point for Farmers and Agricultural staff who are often at risk of social isolation. With support sessions designed to help them connect online and build confidence in using technology to enhance their business . 184,000 are employed in Agricultu re in the UK Those at risk of Digital Exclusion being assisted by Wi-Fi in our Community
