PHASE 1
Time: 2 h
Place: classroom
Objectives:
Interpreting a written
document
Presentation of the project: name, teachers, subjects
involved and duration.
-Reading of a brief text about the “city” (from
“Masterpices of the contemporary architecture” by M.
Agnoleto and F. Bocha)
Students read the text trying to get its main
information. They participate in the discussion about
the city’s elements/parts and try to link the
description to their own city to see the differences.
PHASE 2
Time: 2 h
Place: classroom
Objectives:
to interpret iconographic
sources
The teacher shows paintings and photographs of
famous cities and landscapes, on the interactive
whiteboard. The teacher leads a discussion about the
understanding of iconographic sources, trying to
make students think about the features
characterizing the cities, through questions.
Students observe the pictures and reflect on the
features about the cities represented (space,
background, foreground, types of buildings,
people..….).
PHASE 3
Time: 2 h
Place: classroom
Objectives: to interpret
The teacher invites students to search for pictures
(internet, family pictures…) of their own city in the
present and in the past. The pictures are displayed on

Objectives: representing landscapes
The teacher asks students to think about the
photographs analyzed and about their own personal
experience of their own city and to make drawings of
how they see it (Sofia). Afterwards, all the drawings
are gathered for the Exposition “My City Today”,
placed it in the Erasmus Corner.
Students make a drawing of their own city (Sofia)
using different techniques to prepare the Exhibition.
PHASE 5
Tempi: 2h
Place: classroom
Objectives:
- to produce a written text
about a shared theme,
respecting instructions;
- to develop critical
thinking.
The teacher asks students to think about what they
have done up to now and to write an essay about their
city and gives instruction for the writing. They essay
should focus on
- their school;
- district and city;
- positives and negatives aspects (i.e. what’s the
place you like most for your free time? Which
place/element would you like to have in your
city?...).
Students write the essay “My City” (in English)
following the teachers guidelines.
PHASE 6
Time: 2h
Objectives:
- to work in group;
- to develop critical
thinking;
- to explain one’s own
ideas.
Groupwork.
The teacher divides students in groups and asks each
group to read their essays and focus on the negative
and positive aspects about their city each member
wrote. Teacher gives each group a grid to fill with the
positive and negative aspects.
Students in each group read their essay, focus on the
negative and positive aspects pinpointed by everyone
and make a list of them.

The teacher coordinates the preparation of the Power
Point documents and displays them on the electronic
board of the school where they can be seen by all
students, parents and guests of the school.
Students create a multimedial product (Power Point)
about their research in the in the past and in the
present, using photographs collected during the
activities.
EVALUATION Self- evaluation , through a test, to highlight students motivation, their capacity to work in group and the
acquired knowledge.
