Instead of “facebooking” most of the time, surf websites that offer self-improvement, online tutorials to improve technical skills, or look for available opportunities or conferences where we can attend. You have many to choose from and you will find that it is time well spent.

Make time to read for one hour a day. One hour of daily reading will allow you to complete an average length book in a week. Let’s say, reading 52 books a year on information science will help you to become an expert in our field.
