How do we chose and manage our career?
Career development is influenced by 2 groups of factors:
- External – everything related to our constantly changing environment.
- Internal – all elements of one’s being such as knowledge, skills, emotions, values, attitudes.
What is the EU position?
We need career management skills.
Teachers play key role in supporting young people from an early age to take free and informed decision for their education and professional development.
What are career management skills made of?
1. Self-knowledge and self-evaluation (interests and capabilities, strengths and weaknesses, needs and desires)
2. Effective self-presentation for access to education and/or work
3. Access to and utilization (use) of career information
4. Career decisions planning and taking
5. Initiative and entrepreneurship
