OVERVIEW

PlayStation Magazine is a magazine where you can look at upcoming games for Sony consoles and reviews on the latest and trending games.

PlayStation magazine was first released in September 1997. The first issue included games like Final Fantasy and included a free sticker! Today the magazine is still going as newer consoles from Sony are released. They release around 13-14 issues a year.

Matthew Pellett: Editor of the magazine, website and digital editions.

Currently Editor of Games Master, Matthew joined Future in 2007 as Staff Writer on Xbox World 360. Matt moved over to Games Master in October 2011 and worked his way up to become Deputy Editor in February 2012 and Editor in March last year.

Sony, Owner of PlayStation publishes and copyrights content for PlayStation. FUTURE PLC publishes and distributes all of the PlayStation magazines since 2004.

FUTURE PLC Have published hundreds of magazines in the past here are a few that they currently publish:

• Music Radar

THEIR TARGET AUDIENCE

PlayStation magazines main target audience are from younger ages 12+ to 30 year olds. People who like games or a certain type of Genre in the gaming industry. Mainly boys but some games where girls is the main audience do pop up from time-to-time.

PlayStation have estimated that each month they sell over 10,000 of there magazines!

COVERS OF PSM

PlayStation magazine focus mainly on their front covers. To get their target audience they focus on the layout and what is news is on the front cover.

Looking at this front cover, They have chosen to focus on the release of Battlefield 4! With an image which is eye catching and shows of the game. They have also added snippets for GTA V.

>The text does not blip with the image.

>The text is bold and easy to read.

PlayStation tend to use one eye catching image on their covers. Not to complex.

COVER ANALYSIS Obvious logo, So people see it more clearer. It is bold and it stands out

Plug/Puff – Freebies and gifts to lure the reader to buy it

Anchoring text – The large bold (Standing out against everything) text which supports the image.

Left-Third side – Lots of information and news stories for the reader to look forward too.
