SIMPLE PRESENT

Use simple present for facts, for repeated or regular actions, for habits and for things which are regular or generally true. SPELLING RULES: PRONUNCIATION RULES FOR “-S / ES” ENDINGS

Rules Examples

1.Add “s ” to basic form of the verb.

Walk–walks / eat–eats / run-runs

2.Verbs ending in “sh, ch, ss, o, x, zz” add –es.

Watch–watches / Wash–washes / kiss– kisses / Buzz–buzzes /

Go–goes.

3.“Consonant + y” Change “Y” to “ies”

Cry – Cries / Study – studies

4.“Vowel + y” add “S” Play–plays / Stay–Stays

5. Irregular verbs. Have for “I, we, you, they” Has for “he, she, it”
