This is the book I read in the bookstore. I couldn’t put it down. It’s an argument about how cell phone radiation has led to cancer.

Dr. Davis

• This is the Author. She’s not a lunatic.B.S. in physiological psychology and a M.A. in sociology from the University of Pittsburgh, 1967.

• Cause is that DNA double helix becomes damaged/ripped apart. Healthier cells recover quicker. But long term exposure could increase risk of cancer.

Sailors on WWII ships used to stand in front of the radar beams on ships to stay warm. They also noticed that they became some what infertile for shore leave.

But sperm hit with normal cell phone radiation does become slow and almost defunct.

Good News

• Cell Phones have been attributed to preventing Alzheimer's in rats normally genetically predisposed to Alzheimer's…

But notice why:• Because cell phone radiation prevents a

specific protein known to be associated with Alzheimer's from growing in the brain…something is happening in there to kill these proteins.

…But What Is Scary

• France, Sweden, Israel• All have bans on advertisements for cell

phones to kids.

• Some places in Europe are not allowed to sell cell phones to children under 16.

SAR

• The Specific Absorption Rate is a measure of the amount of radio frequency (RF) energy absorbed by the body when using the handset. All cell phones emit RF energy and the SAR varies by handset model.To sell a cell phone in the US, you must be under an SAR value of: \1.6 watts/kg

In Europe it’s: 2.0 watts/kg

The point is that YOU NEED TO BE UNDER 1.6 in order to be a cell phone in the United States. Be sure to read the highlighted text in the next slides VERY carefully.

Which means…

• That there is a loop hole.

• All the SAR numbers were recorded AT a position OFF of the body.

• The manual explicitly states: the limit may be exceeded if it’s on your body. (read the entire previous slide again.)

What does this mean?• Something is up. It’s the same story as with cigarettes. It took 6 years to get the

surgeon generals warning out, AFTER doctors raised an issue about cigarettes on health. How long were cigarettes around before 1964?

• The 1964 report on smoking and health had an impact on public attitudes and policy. A Gallup Survey conducted in 1958 found that only 44 percent of Americans believed smoking caused cancer, while 78 percent believed so by 1968. In the course of a decade, it had become common knowledge that smoking damaged health, and mounting evidence of health risks gave Terry's 1964 report public resonance. Yet, while the report proclaimed that "cigarette smoking is a health hazard of sufficient importance in the United States to warrant appropriate remedial action," it remained silent on concrete remedies. That challenge fell to politicians. In 1965, Congress required all cigarette packages distributed in the United States to carry a health warning, and since 1970 this warning is made in the name of the Surgeon General. In 1969, cigarette advertising on television and radio was banned, effective September 1970.

Do cell phones cause brain cancer?

• There is an increased risk of tumors/cancer for long amounts of cell phone long cell phone usage (1-hr) long conversations.

• Biological studies in rats. Risk increases.

• Risk is tripled in children and teenagers.

• Even a former Motorola engineer who worked on development of first portable cell phone (1983), found a brain tumor in him in 2002.

Let’s be realistic

• I’m not saying EVERY cell phone user will develop cancer/tumors.

• But…your risk INCREASES.

But what about bluetooth?• I use a Protronice blue tooth. The SAR is .0317

• My cell phone is a blackjack II it has a .987 SAR

• Do the math: .0317/.987 = .032

• My blue tooth produces only 3.2% the radiation my cell phone produces. (Imagine a gallon of water, and you only drink 4 ounces. [1/2 cup])

• I can keep the phone far away, and the blue tooth near. But keep calls short.

LESS RADIATIONMORE RADIATION

Standing still, or with full signal, produces less radiation.

Traveling fast or with small signal, produces more radiation.
