Pneumatic circuit building
A brief introduction to various fittings & connectors used while building a pneumatic circuit.
Chapter 1. Fittings & Connectors
Presented By:Smriti Mehta Pranav Pande

Push – in Fittings
“ Fittings are those in which the input port is threaded, in addition to push-in type pipe
connectors at the output”
Push-in type pipe connectors

Nomenclature
L - G½ - 10 or T - G½ - 12

External Hexagon for easy tightening
Teflon coated threads for proper sealing
Push – in Connectors
“ Push-in Connectors are those which have no threading on either of the ports instead have Push-in
connections on both ends”
Push- in fitting at input
Push- in fitting at output

What is a reducer ?
“ A reducer as the name implies, is a component in the pneumatic circuits which connects a high lpm opening (probably of a valve) to a relatively lower lpm component,
in turn reducing the output flow-rate”
.

Yes,
Call it a 12-10
straight connector
or a 12-10 straight
reducer, makes no
difference !

Q. How to identify a reducer from the stores ?Ans. Well, its inscribed on the connector
Look it is that simple !
16
Exercise
Q.1 Recognize the connector being circulated.
Q.2 How will you convert a 12 dia input to a 6 dia output ?
18
Bulkhead connectors
“ Bulkhead connectors are used in places where mountings or support to the pipe is necessary. They are mounted on a fixed
plate with overhang push-in pipe connectors on both sides” .
20
Advantages of using bulkheads
• Provides support to the pipelines.• Ease of maintenance.• Ease while assembling.• Flexibility in assembling.
* Alternate solution to the use of Bulkheads
- Grometing of holes.
21
Push- in sleeve
“ A Push- in sleeve is a male form of a connector ”
* Reducers in the form of push- in sleeves are also available.
22
There is just one type available, i.e. Straight type Push- in sleeve
Never ask for a T, L, or Y push- in sleeve.
