Rigveda ,Samaveda ,yajurveda and Althurvaveda .

Oldest Vedas :-Rigveda Contains more than 1000 Sukta or well said . It is in old sanskrit differ from present sanskrit

Vedic Rishis

GODS & GODDESSES

Rigveda was recited and heard .

Three Important Gods :- Agni – God of Fire . Indra – A Warrior God. Suriya- Sun God .

Some of the suktas are in the form of dialougue between saint vishwamitra and two rivers Beas and Sutlej

RIG VEDA

There are many Prayers in the Rigveda for Cattle , Children ( Son ) and Horses.

Battles :- Battles were fought for to capture

land and cattle .Most men took part in these wars.

People

There Two Groups who are described in terms of their work.

Priest or Brahmins Rajas – They did not have capital

cities ,Palaces or Armies.

Comminuty is described as jana and Vish . The word Vaishya comes from Vish.

Vish or jana are meantioned by Name –puru jana , Bharat Vish etc.,

They Hymns composed by the People Aryas and their Opponents were Dases.

Story of Megaliths• Stone boulders are known as Megaliths

These are carefully arranged by the

People , and used to mark Burial sites.

Common Features of Burial Place

The dead were buried with

distinctive pots ,which are called Black and

red ware . Skeletons , Horses , Ornaments

some iron tools are also found.

BURIALS

Social Difference In Brahmagiri one Skeletons was

found with 33 old beads 2 stone bead 4 copper Bangles.

Other Skeletons are not Having any Ornaments .This shows Social status some megaliths contains more than one Skeletons .Stone circles or boulders served as sign posts to find the burial site .

A Special burrial at Inamgaon It is a site on the river ghod a tributary of

the river Bhima. Here adults were Burried in the ground sometimes burried were within the houses . vessels with food and water were placed with the dead.

One Burrial vessels with four legged clay jar was found in the court yard of a five roomed houses.

Burial Places

Occupations at Inamgaon Agriculture and animals Wheat Barley etc., Ber , Amla ,Jamun , Dates etc were

Fruits.

Buffalo , Goat , Sheep were the animals reared.
