VIOLET
Appearance: A slight, small girl, with dark hair and wide eyes, often with a blank or lifeless
expression to highlight the doll-like element of her story. Still has the ball-joints on her arms and
knees from her previous existence.
Clothing: Ripped, plain dress adorned with fabric swatches to give a rag-tag patchwork effect.
Storyline: Violet is a doll who lives in the home of a quaint English family, and spends most of
her days seemingly ignored by the family’s children, as they deem her ‘too scary’. What the
parents do not realise is that, once they are asleep, Violet comes to life and moves through the
house, searching not only for companionship, but for revenge after her sister (another doll) was
‘murdered’ (broken by the children) and she was left cracked and not fully functional. As a result
of her injuries, Violet has cracks across her face and arms.
LEO
Appearance: Young, innocent face, rounded and wide-eyed (parallels with
Violet)
Clothing: Mostly seen in pajamas.
Storyline: Leo is the youngest in his family, the owner of Violet, a doll
given to him by his grandmother. He previously owned Violet’s sister doll,
but dropped her while playing and had to throw her away. Leo
continuously complains to his parents that Violet is alive, and they dismiss
him.
CAROL
Appearance: Mumsy, clothes have frills. Often wears
corduroy. Has a stern, time-worn face.
Storyline: Carol becomes increasingly worried about her
children as the story progresses, and subsequently
pressures her husband into considering action. He
dismisses her thoughts as being childish, and later falls
victim to his own arrogance.
