Stats

• Light gray color on back, red on sides, chest, and on the back of head. White belly and chest.

• It is about 2 to 3 feet tall

• It can camouflage easy and has fast agility to catch its prey.

Habitat

• Their habitats are located in the woods and brushy grass.

• Mainly woods or woodlands.

• The fox likes to burrow in logs or hide up In the trees during the day

Habitat Range

• Their habitats range through out the U.S

• These habitats range from the east coast to west coast.

• Their habitats are really common on the west coast.

Hunting

• Cottontail rabbits, mice, voles, and smaller mammals.

• Grasshoppers are a important part of the diet.

• This species has very few enemies that hunt gray fox. Also humans hunt these gray fox species for their fur.

Population

• The gray fox has a big population in Arizona and all over the U.S.

• Hunters that like to hunt the gray fox makes the population size decrease. So far hunters have killed about 3,500 foxes.

Breeding

• Gray foxes mate from late January to May.• 2-7 gray foxes are born during the month of

march.• When they get at least 3 years old they can go

hunt on their own but when they are born the mother provides food for them.

• The male fox doesn't stay in the den with the babies, he goes out and hunts for food and brings back for the mother.
