Thomas Edison became famous for inventing the light bulb. Thomas Edison invented the light bulb.  This taught me this  He became famous. The example contains a noun phrase and a verb phrase, the noun

phrase Thomas Edison function as a subject of the sentence, the head of the noun phrase is Thomas Edison followed by a subject of third person, the main verb of the sentence became is a transitive verb, the light bulb function as a direct object and famous for inventing, function as a complement of the direct object.
