The traditional tools were divided into categories according to their usefulness

• A. Tools for digging (excavating)• B. Tools for plowing and sowing the fields. • C. Tools for harvesting• D. Tools for threshing and winnowing of fruit • E. Tools for grinding and general processing of a crop • F. Other tools for general use.

A. Tools for digging (excavating)

  (1) Η τσάπα (tsapa) - The hoe:    

(2) Το φτυάρι(ftiari)- The spade:

 (3) Η αξίνα (aksina): Metal body with 2 iron bits

    

(4) Η τσατάλα - The Tsatali

B. Tools for plowing and sowing the fields

(1) Το υνί (ini) - The coulter: It was an iron tool, single or double. Drawn by horses, cows or donkeys and farmers scoured fields.

   

 

(2) Η Σβάρνα (svarna) - Harrow or plank: A large wooden square mainly with nails on one side, used for the harrowing of the field and straightening of the field.

C. Tools for harvesting

(1) Το δρεπάνι - The sickle: Sharp iron tool

was used for cutting the plants

D. Tools for threshing and . Tools for threshing and winnowing of fruitwinnowing of fruit

(1) Η Τζουγκράνα (Tzougkrana) : Wooden body with two or three

teeth on edge, like a giant fork, where they used to winnowing of any production.

  

(2) Το κόσκινο(koskino)- The sieve: plate tool with holes, large and small, where farmers separating the fruit from small straw

E. Tools for grinding and general processing of a crop

  (1) Ο μύλος - Mill: A variant of the windmill, which is found on the islands, only here the central axis was dragged by animals.

(2) The hand mill: Two well shaped stones, one above the other, mounted on a wooden driver used for milling of small quantities of grain.

(1) ΚΟΦΙΝΙ. The Kofini basket: Large, braided with thin reeds or bamboo, for the placement and transported of the plants.

(2) ΛΙΑΣΤΡΕΣ. The liastres: Wooden structures on the clothesline for drying turban tobacco
