Communication Technology in 2022Victoria Vogt

Looking Back…Communication Technology has drastically expanded in the past eight years. People have connected better with people, they have signed on through their school and educated themselves through online courses. People have learned a lot about themselves, others, the world around them in the past eight years. When you think about it, its pretty scary how much things have changed and how much they will change in the next eight years.

Communication in the Next 8 Years

• Google Glass

• Nokia Sensory Phone

• Smart TV

• Electronic paper and

ink

Google Glass• You can become an explorer

with the Google Glass! You can research your golf swing while playing golf, you can find your way to work using navigation, even post to your favorite social media site right from the Eiffel Tower!

• Anything you can do on your smart phone or on google you can do on the google glass.

• According to Moore’s Innovation Adoption rate you need to introduce your product slowly to allow the public to talk hold of the concept. I think the Google Glass is the opposite of that. People are going to either take hold of the idea or run from it. It is such a drastic change in the world of Communication Technology that it might be a little scary at first, until people get used to the idea.

(Google, n.d.)

The Theory of The Long Tail

• The producer of these products wants the products to be in demand for a long time. The theory states that there will be a spike of popularity once the product hits the selves but they want the demand to stay (even if it is small) for a long period of time.

(Longtail, 2006)

Nokia Sensory Phone

• Imagine talking to someone and being able to hear, see, smell, and touch! Introducing the Nokia Sensory Phone, communicate with someone far away with all the perks of being right next to them.

(Truvie, n.d.)

Uses and ratifications Theory• The Nokia Sensory Phone will

really satisfy this theory. People are looking for something to satisfy their need. Usually they seem to need to speak to someone or be somewhere they aren’t. This will help a lot!

• Google Glass helps to satisfy this need too, people need knowledge or seem to need it now! The Google Glass can help this.

Future of Television

• Imagine being able to control your shows by using a smart phone. This will be the norm in 2022, being able to choose your own path or choose your own destiny per say. How incredible would that be?

• Smart TV’s have already been introduced today, however they will be perfected. Having all the capabilities of a computer right on your TV plus the convenience of having it wireless, and you can just tell it what it search.

(Google, n.d.)

Media System Dependency Theory

• “The more a person depends on media to meet needs, the more important media will be in a person's life, and therefore the more effects media will have on a person.” (Wikipedia, 2014, p. 01)

• People depend on media today for a lot of things. This means for the future we will need more advanced technology and different types of media to depend on. This is why we have been introduced to these types of communication technology

(Wikipedia, 2014, p. 01)

Electronic paper and ink

• E-readers are already introduced and some of them that the E-ink technology but eventually we will have electronic paper as well. We will be able to write what we want and it show up in E-ink. Taking notes during class will be so much easier.

(Xconomy, 2007)

The Future…

• The future of communication technology is something that blows your mind when you think about it. I remember when smart phones were “a thing of the future” and people couldn’t imagine a time when everyone would have one. Today you don’t see someone without a smart phone, old or young. In the future I believe these technologies are going to be the norm and smart phones will be a thing of the past.
