The education systems are considerably different because the Communities organise and fund their education system autonomously.

The Communities have the authority over education in Belgium :

Flemish Community

French Community

the German-speaking Community

Registration fee :The amount of the registration fee for a university programme is more than € 1500, and for a college programme is about € 800.

HarmonizationHarmonization

•The methodology of quality assessment of study programmes is inconsistent; the specificity of studies is not completely respected;

• the criteria of both higher non- university and university study programmes are unified.

• most of the graduated students want to go abroad and find a job there instead of Lithuania.

This mass character of the higher education is dangerous.

Bologna process

BelgiumBefore the Bologna Process the national education systems were complitly different and after the launch of Bologna the systems are still not the same, they only have basic similarities. The higher education systems answer these in a different way which keeps the lack of harmonisation amoung them.

Can we abolish them finally? Or a common system never can be reached? Can we create a procedure for the world which would be the same for all of the countries? How much can we sacrifice for it?
