For this presentation I will discuss what I did In order to achieve this final result for my image. The image above was used as the main image on my advert and the back cover of my digipack.

1 – Crop using rectangular marquee tool. Right click and select inverse. Finish by pressing delete to remove the excess.

2 – Select hue/saturation in adjustments on the menu on the right side and set saturation to -100 then adjust the black and white setting to suit the rest of the images

3 – Select the hue and saturation layer and the image layer right click and click merge layers

A final effect I used quite frequently was the blur tool. This allowed me to create the appearance of shallow depth of field in some of my pictures.

In opposition I also used the sharpen tool add clarity to the artist. This was mainly used on the cover image to make the artist stand out. In this case I took two copies of the image on one softened it with the blur tool and on the other cut the artist out using the lasso and quick selection tool and finished by using the sharpen tool and placing the image back in place.
