The leather jackets the two members creates a cool, rock representation of the band. Leather jackets are stereotyped as being cool and like a bad boy.

Even though the boys are wearing different outfits, they are all still in the same dark style. This illustrates that the band have one clear genre and style of music. Matt Healy is wearing a black shirt which makes him look smart casual but the top two buttons are open meaning the audience can see his tattoos emphasising the indie rock genre. Healy’s open shirt also reveals some chest hair and exposes his chest, which adds a cool and sexy look that will heighten his appeal to female fans of the band.

And similarly George Daniel is wearing all black however he is wearing a plain black T-shirt with a sleeveless leather jacket. The jacket being sleeveless also allows the audience to see his tattoos. The majority of the members have careless bed hair and simple clothes that look like they can just throw anything on and just don’t care what they look like or what anyone thinks of them.

The1975 style is popular in the fans of that kind of genre and their style influences their fans to also dress like them.

In this image of The 1975 we see all the band members wearing all black shirts and two wearing leather jackets. With all the dark black and grey colours within the image it suggests that they have dark edgy personalities. This also reflects the type of music they produce is also dark and edgy rock and is the same in the overall indie rock genre.

The members wearing shirts and smart dresses with collars makes them look smart casual but mature and sophisticated.

Each member is wearing different outfits of the same style allowing them to coordinate and match in some respect. Hannah Reid is wearing a smart but feminine dress and a comfortable black coat. She is wearing very light makeup making her look very natural which is common for indie females. Dot Major is wearing a black blazer and a grey buttoned shirt. Dot’s outfit is casual smart but with careless messy hair makes him seems more casual.

Fans of London grammar and similar indie bands will follow this popular style and follow and trend of the clothes and music.

In this image we see a indie band called London Grammar. Similar to The 1975, their style is also quite dark. They are all dressed in dark grey or black smart casual costumes reflecting on each of their personalities and how it relates to their genre of music being emotionally dark and sophisticated.

Each member of the band is wearing an outfit styled in the same way as their genre of music.

The leather and denim jackets suggest stereotypes of being cool. The member also wearing the sunglasses supports this stereotype.

The member wearing sunglasses is only wearing them as a fashion statement to make him appear cool and like a typical (indie) rock star.

All the members are in the same style but in their own way. The leather jacket style is cool whereas the denim jacket and brown coat is more casual wear. However they still connect and match to show the target audience they still have one set genre and style of music. Morrissey the lead singer is wearing a simple outfit of a plain white T shirt, denim jacket and blue jeans. This outfit is casual similar to their style of music. They all have simple careless hairstyles indicating they don’t bother much with it and they don’t care what people think.

The target audience for the smiths will like their style of costumes and will be influenced to wear similar styles clothes as retro is still in fashion.
