DECISION MAKING TESTS
Cambridge Gambling Task
Affective Go/No-go test
Cambridge Gambling Task
The Cambridge Gambling Task was developed to assess decision-
making and risk-taking behavior.
Administration time is up to 30 minutes.
alcoholism and drug abuse are all conditions sensitive to this test.
Cambridge Gambling TaskTask:
On each trial, the participant is presented with a row of ten boxes across
the top of the screen, some of which are red and some of which are blue.
At the bottom of the screen there will be a red box and a blue box.
The participant must guess whether a yellow token is hidden in a red box
or a blue box.
CGT Task contd…In the second stage a stake box on the screen displays the current
amount of the bet.
The participant has to choose the amount of the bet.
If he wins he will gain that amount else he will lose the same amount
It tells us that how much confident you are on a particular decision
Outcome
CGT outcome measures cover
risk taking
quality of decision making
Confidence levels
Affective Go/No-go testThis test assesses information processing biases for positive
and negative stimuli.
Administration time is 10 minutes.
Task
In this test a word from three different affective categories is
displayed on the screen
Positive (for example, joyful)
Negative (for example, hopeless)
Neutral
Task contdThe participant is given a target category, and is asked to
press the press pad when they see a word matching this
category.
Outcome
Measures errors of commission and omission.
RESPONSE TESTS
Attention Switching Task{AST}
Stop Signal Task{SST}
Attention Switching TaskAST is a test of the participant’s ability to switch attention between
the direction of an arrow and its location on the screen.
Administration time 8 minutes.
TASKThe test displays an arrow which can appear on either side of the
screen (right or left) and can point in either direction (to the right or to
the left).
Task contd..
In each trial the participant is asked to respond by pressing right or left
arrow according to direction or position of arrow.
Task contd..
Some trials display congruent stimuli (e.g. arrow on the right side of the
screen pointing to the right) whereas other trials display incongruent
stimuli which require a higher cognitive demand (e.g. arrow on the
right side of the screen pointing to the left).
Outcome
AST measures
Attention switching ability
Responding ability
STOP SIGNAL TASK {SST}The Cantab SST is a unique version of a classic approach to measuring
response inhibition.
The subject must respond to an arrow stimulus, by touching either of
two choices depending on the direction in which the arrow points.
Administration time is up to 20 minutes
TASKThis test consists of two parts:
In the first part, the participant is introduced to the press pad, and told
to press the left hand button when they see a left-pointing arrow, and
the right hand button when they see a right-pointing arrow.
TASK-Part2
In the second part, the participant is told to continue pressing the
buttons on the press pad when they see the arrows, as before, but, if
they hear an auditory signal (a beep), they should withhold their
response and not press the button.
OUTCOME
SST measures cover
Direction errors
Proportion of successful stops
