Skills developed during this project.Photoshop, Quark and Camera techniques

Adobe Photoshop.Layers – During this unit, I have learnt that layers are important on Photoshop. This is because this decides in what order the text/images are on the page.

Quick Selection tool – I have also learnt how to use this tool, this allows me to cut out images which is relevant for my front cover.

Ctrl + T – this is the transform tool. It has been essential in creating my front cover as I have had to resize numerous images on my front cover during this development.

Opacity – another tool that I had used during the development of my front cover. This tool allows me to change the opacity of objects on my front cover, creating interesting effects.

Quark ExpressIn his project I used Quark express to develop my double page spread and contents page. I used various tools on his software, thing such as the selection tool; o allow me to move things around on my page. The text tool to allow me to inset text onto the page. And also the image tool, which allows you to choose how big you want the picture before you insert it in.

Whilst inserting text, Quark allowed me to edit this text, anyway I wanted. For example, changing the colour and size of my text, which was important for this project as my page needed to look professional with the correct sized font. It also allowed me to change it into 3 columns, which again gave my magazine a professional look. There a more advanced things you could do on this software, for example, changing he spacing between the lines, a good tool for making the page look spread out and not clumped together.

Camera techniques

During this coursework, I have developed many skill with different pieces of software. But I have also developed skills with a camera. I have used different angle shots during this project, for example, low shots and high shots. I had to use various techniques in order to find the right image for the front of my magazine. As well as the different angle shots, I also had to make use of the focus feature, as I needed all of my images to be in focus for my magazine to look professional.
