Hackbarth (2002) 3. Technology skills need to be taught but HOW so thatits relevant to the learning, meaningful or purposefulbut not tokenistic?I began to brainstorm what I do know that could be adapted or changed to be used in my digitalliteracy lessons....... : Poetry-publishing, illustrating, usin:Evaluationsg font for effectof :performances- written, survey: On going thinking, completionreflections, additions withoutredoing all the time 4. Examples: PoetryStudents published (instead or rewriting we typed them) their poetry. They were then involved in modelled and guided lessons were givenon- high-lighting text that requires changes to be made to- changing font, colour and alignment. 5. Examples: PoetryAfter writing a class poem the students then altered it to create a rebuspoem. Each one being very different in its appearance. They were involved in modelled and guided lessons on how to find andinsert pictures (now I want use allowable ones) and resize to fit thepoem. 6. What pictures to insert??After initial lessons on inserting pictures, I became concerned about usingallowable images. So now I am using...* Google search: I now look for pictures we CAN use by changing theusing the options1. Search an image then go to option wheel2. Click advance settings and go down to USAGE RIGHTS and changeto free to use or share. 7. * Microsoft pictures- many are the clip art( which can also be used if notfocusing on an internet search lesson) but are all useable and easy limitsthe amount of time scrolling through images but still teaches how to selectand inserthttp://office.microsoft.com/en-us/?CTT=97* My own images that I have saved and tagged in photo gallery (or picasa) 8. Examples of PowerPoint liveTo a picture:Open a few current ones: 9. Commenting to a video:what I want to do next Write 2 things you now want to know more about. * 10. Go to FILE and click on Options 11. 3. Click on CustomizeRibbon4. On the right hand sideclick to tick theDEVELOPER box 12. 5. You now have the Developer tab along the top click on it6. Now add a text box by clicking on the abc box next to the A. You now have a writing frame. You need to make it work like a text box ( it can not be typed into yet) 13. 7. Right click on the writing frameand click on PROPERTIES8. This scary looking box opens:You need to change the Falsefunctions to True- EnterKeyBehaviour - Multiline( you can also now changescroll bar to allow for morewriting if you wish)9. Change font and font size byclicking on the Font section.TIP: Now you have made the writingframe act as a text box copy and pastethe newly created text box on eachscreen you require to avoid goingthrough this step each time!! 14.
