Digital divides

• Digital divide isn’t just about access/social deprivation, it’s about how technology is used

Why is digital literacy important?

• Fundamental social and economic changes: the reconfiguration of employment, education, health, welfare, politics, leisure and entertainment

• Functions and processes increasingly organised around networks rather than physical spaces (Manuel Castells 1996)
