Digital Technology & Media News

- The Internet/Media is the decisive technology of the Information Age, and with the explosion of wireless communication in the early twenty-first century. To say technology has changed the news media industry is understating the obvious.

- Moving from Newspapers to the Internet has been to its benefit but has also been a major difficulty.- However, now the many websites and forms of social media are used as sources for news. Mainly

because this is where people come to get news, leaving newspaper to fail. Digital media is used to connect with viewers in the most simple way possible.

- Also, mainstream news outlets have shifted from the traditional broadcaster communicating information to many to a more inclusive form of communication where the audience has a platform to speak.

Before Digital Technology

- We use technology in our daily lives to keep up with our social circles. Newspapers are using technology to ensure we can stay connected to the news, and thus, our community—whether local, national or global.

- Major newspaper sources like The Washington Post and The New York Times constituted the strong right arm of the news world.

- Faced with such challenges, newspapers have no choice but to adapt. Readers demand instant access to news, so newspapers have created online editions. Some of these editions are free, whereas others are offered at a reduced rate or licensed through digital media, such as the Kindle, Nook or iPhone.

How Cell Phones and Computers Affects News Media

- The hyper-local website features arrest reports, coupons, event listings, information on activities of fire and police departments, news stories and restaurant inspections on a map. Thanks to its responsive design, the site is easy to navigate on laptops, smartphones and tablets.

- The main Social Media sites used include Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube.

- There are no longer gatekeepers to the current events happening in the world and the public is allowed to acquire as much knowledge as they’d like to because of easy access from cellular devices and computers

Fox, ABC, and NBC News with Digital Technology

- When it comes to Media News, the word that continually pops up is innovation. What can we do that’s different? How can we use technology to further our industry? We are starting to see more and more newspaper companies adopting new forms of technology every so often.

- Mainstream news sources like CNN and NBC have created accounts on social media sites such as Twitter and Instagram to allow for immediate access to information on current events.
