Professional StatementI believe that school counseling is about developing relationships and helping
students develop relationships between themselves and the faculty of school. Being able to develop those relationships will help them become a more productive member of society and therefore more successful. Part of helping students develop these relationships is by modeling the behavior with them and in classrooms. This is done through individual counseling, classroom guidance lessons and small group sessions. Having run many social skills lessons for all different types of students, I understand what can face a student in the current social climate and share with them the tools that are needed to be aware of their social climate. Also, by helping students grow and develop, I will then be able to see them pick a path through higher education. This is done through Career Education and the college process. When I applied for college, I went into my interviews knowing that I had to make a connection with the admissions representative as a way to stand out from the many applicants that applied to school. Making a connection is all about being able to build a relationship and that is how I see myself making the most impact at a school.
